Blueberry Iced Tea Recipe (1)

Homemade blueberry iced tea is great for a summertime gathering. I made this recipe for a smaller crowd. It serves about 8 people in 6 oz glasses and can be made a day in advance. Follow along and see how I made this refreshing drink.

Why add blueberries to ice tea?

There are many reasons to add fresh blueberries to your ice tea. Below are just some reasons:

It adds antioxidants to your drink.
Blueberries are low in sugar.
It is rich in vitamin C.
Helps maintain healthy bones.
It gives ice tea a rich flavor.

Caution: people who use blood thinners should talk to their doctors before adding blueberries to their diet.

Now, that you know why you should add it to your ice tea, let's get the ingredients together.

What is in Blueberry Iced Tea?

8 cups of blueberries (frozen)
½ cup of lemon juice
1 56 oz bottle of Unsweetened Ice tea - I used Kreider Farms.
½ cup of granulated sugar
2 lemons

How to make Blueberry Iced Tea?

Add the frozen blueberries, lemon juice, and sugar together in a medium saucepan. Stir well. Bring to a boil. Then lower the heat to medium and cook for 8 minutes. Keep an eye on it, so it doesn't burn and stir occasionally.

Turn off the burner. Get a bowl and a strainer on it. Then add the blueberry mixture to the strainer. With a wooden or silicone spatula, press the blueberries down to strain out the liquid and juices from the blueberries. At this point, you will have a thin liquid syrup.

Add the prepared iced tea to the blueberry liquid bowl and stir.

Then, transfer to a pitcher. Allow enough room for some ice in the pitcher you pick. Add a little ice and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

When you are ready to serve, slice up the lemons into ¼ inch slices. Add some ice to the cup. Then, add one lemon sliced to the rim. Add 6 oz. of blueberry iced tea and enjoy.

That's it. It lasts about 3-4 days.
